“Severus Snape! Where is my costume?”
“Inthebin,” he murmured.
“What?”
“It’s gone. You are not wearing that scrap of material you refer to as a costume this evening.”
Hermione appeared in the doorway of their bedroom. “It’s not a ‘scrap of material’. It’s an authentic bellydancing costume.”
“It’s vulgar.”
Hermione smirked. “You didn’t think it so vulgar last night. As I recall, you were rather enamored with it.”
“Yes, well, that was last night. We were alone. Not at a fancy dress party. No one, save myself, needs to see your bare midriff.”
“You are such a prude.”
He pulled her into his lap.
“I am no such thing. I am, however, protective of what’s mine.”
“Yours? I’m not a draft horse or a goat to be owned,” Hermione laughed, her eyes sparkling.
“I heard no complaint when I claimed you last eve,” he whispered, placing a soft kiss on the underside of her jaw.
“Mmmm…no. No complaints from me,” she moaned as his hands parted the lapels of her dressing gown.
“Sod the party. I’d rather stay here with you.”
“That sounds like a lovely plan.”
“So, what would it take for you to don that bellydancing costume again?”
